Reserve K-9

As with the Cole County Sheriff’s Department Reserve Deputy Program that supplements full time deputies to the benefit of the citizens of Cole County, the Department also utilizes a volunteer Reserve K-9 unit for select public relations functions.

Snoopy Rosburg, the personal dog of Reserve Deputy Lyle Rosburg, acts in that capacity by attending various public events in Cole County.  Snoopy specifically enjoys children’s functions and the department has learned that children are more willing to approach a deputy when that deputy has a smaller, friendly dog to greet them.

Snoopy has represented the Cole County Sheriff’s Department at Safety Kids Day, Kids Fest, Trunk or Treat, Cole County Residential Services Special Needs Barbeque, the Autism Family Kids Day, church picnics, and other events.

While Snoopy is not trained for drug detection or personal defense, he is a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen, demonstrating his ability to be calm and non-aggressive in a variety of public situations.
